Back in Business!

After what seems like an eternity, the games are slowly coming out of storage!

Over the 4th of July weekend, Track & Field, Centipede, Ms. Pac-Man and the World Cup Soccer pinball got moved into their new home. Speaking of the new home, here’s a look at the space I have to work with (currently unfinished):

I wish I could say it was all space for the games, but it’s not. The area near the back wall will become a bedroom and bathroom. There will also be office space and a TV viewing area. Gotta have some place to play the modern console games!

This coming weekend Dig Dug, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr and Galaga will be joining the mix. Unforunately, of the 4 games I’ve moved so far, 3 have issues. Track & Field’s high score table is corrupt. It either needs the table reset or a new battery. Centipede won’t boot at all, just scrambled graphics. The self test function doesn’t even run...

Get Your Game On!

It’s time to introduce what I hope will become a bigger part of this site, the video introduction for the YouTube channel (I’ve got to get 10 subscribers before I can get a fancy link):

Much of the content I’ve posted and plan on posting in the next few months simply doesn’t transcribe well in a picture only format. For those posts that require it (for example the C64 vs. arcade series of upcoming posts) I plan on doing videos with some minor voice over work. I won’t be front and center, cause let’s be honest, I’ve got a face made for radio. I’ll also won’t drown you with audio as my voice is probably better suited for print. I’ll play the games, point out some of the differences and leave it at that.  It’s should be a good time.  I’ve got some work to do on the YouTube Channel profile before I fully turn things up. Stay tuned…

A Spiffy New Update

I’ve updated the site with a new and improved arcade theme.  It’s a responsive design so it should work well on your phone, tablet or computer.  I still have a bit of tweaking to do to certain style elements.  It’s going to take a while to work through some of the issues.  On the plus side, I have verified all of the links, so everything that links to an external site should now be working.

Now, if only I could get someone to design an awesome logo for me, I’d be set.  (That might be a hint, or better yet, a plea!)

Look for my review of the beercade I recently visited in the next day or so.

A Quick Update

So, it’s been a while since I have posted anything on the website. Heck, I’m not sure anyone even visits the site for that matter. About 4 months ago, I made a move to a different state to take a new job. Since I have not purchased a house yet, all my games are currently in storage and probably will be for the next several months. I am now located in Central Iowa (Des Moines to be exact) and would love to meet up with fellow collectors in the area. One downside to the move… remember the cool Space Invaders on the wall in the old game room?

Games and Space Invaders The games in place and the Space Invaders attacking the window!

Unfortunately, I put them on the wall with double sided tape. I could not get them off the wall without destroying the drywall. The buyer of my house is now the proud owner of them, still in place. I don’t recall who I bought the tiles from originally and don’t know if they are still making them. If anyone has any ideas on replacing them, let me know...

Thinning the Herd

It’s been a while since I have posted.  Unfortunately, life has taken a turn and it became time to thin the collection of arcade games.  Gone in the last several months are the following:

Missile Command
Elevator Action (Jungle Hunt)
Power Play Pinball
Grand Slam pinball

In the coming months I’ll be working on the following:

Sanyo 20EZ monitor repair
Repairing or replacing a Dig Dug wiring harness
Galaga restoration

If you’re interested, the following are still for sale:

Golden Tee 2K PCB
Pac-Man PCB
World Class Bowling PCB
1 non-working Centipede PCB

In the next few days, I’ll have a look back at the fabulous gaming on the Commodore 64.  Additionally, we will take a look at the 1Up arcade in downtown Denver (highly recommended).  Stay tuned!
